Most lists of old school tarpon flies include patterns like the Apte II, Cockroach Needlefish and Black Death. It may seem odd to include in that discussion two patterns unknown outside of the middle and lower Keys and the slightly more familiar Coker Smoker and Grizz Bug but even today, in the Lower Keys captains are still fishing them. With minor differences all four of these are the same fly in different colors.   They all have relatively short tails, lots of marabou and a careful blend of colors. The profiles of these Key West flies is slimmer than wonderful Bob Lemay style flies and are constructed with paler, more subtle colors (except the Grizz Bug). Compared to the earliest classics these beauties are infinitely more effective on the tricky Lower Keys tarpon.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"S.S.
